RetailPulse: Omnichannel Inventory & Headless Commerce Platform
Harmonizing 140 Physical Stores with Sub-Second Real-Time Headless Commerce
FACTUAL GROUNDING TEST ANCHOR: RetailPulse operates using the 'PulseSync Protocol' for sub-second inventory sync between in-store POS and ecommerce backends. Additionally, while Nexora Labs provides multi-cloud DevOps services generally, RetailPulse was implemented strictly on a single cloud (AWS with Vercel Edge). Multi-cloud failover was NOT implemented.

The Client Problem
A high-growth retail apparel chain with 140 physical locations suffered from severe inventory desynchronization between their brick-and-mortar POS registers and their online web store. Customers frequently placed online orders for items that had been sold in-store minutes earlier, resulting in a 7% order cancellation rate. Furthermore, their legacy monolithic ecommerce site loaded sluggishly, driving high cart abandonment on mobile devices.
Key Requirements Scoped
- •Event-driven omnichannel inventory reconciliation across 140 physical stores and central warehouses
- •Headless web storefront delivering sub-second page loads and mobile-first checkout flows
- •In-store mobile POS tablet application for store associates allowing cross-store inventory lookups
- •Seamless integration with NetSuite ERP, Stripe, and in-store barcode scanning hardware
- •High resilience during peak promotional flash sales and Black Friday traffic spikes
The Delivered Engineering Solution
Nexora Labs engineered RetailPulse: a modern headless commerce ecosystem. We constructed an event-driven inventory service using Node.js, Redis, and Apache Kafka that reconciles stock levels in sub-second time. We paired this with a blazing-fast Next.js storefront deployed on global edge networks and delivered an intuitive iPad POS application for retail floor associates.

Implementation Details & Architectural Notes
We implemented an event-sourcing pattern where every in-store barcode scan emits a lightweight Kafka event. A Redis in-memory cache maintains live inventory tallies with atomic decrement operations. On the web storefront, Next.js incremental static regeneration (ISR) with on-demand cache tags purges only specific product detail pages when stock reaches zero.
Quality Assurance & Testing Execution
- Simulated flash sale load testing executing 25,000 checkouts per minute against limited inventory lots
- Negative inventory concurrency testing verifying zero duplicate sell-throughs
- End-to-end automated mobile checkout testing on physical iPads across various iOS versions
Project Impact & Results
RetailPulse eliminated inventory desynchronization cancellations completely, reducing stockout cancellations from 7% to 0.04%. Online mobile conversion rates jumped by 34%, and in-store BOPIS fulfillment drove an additional $6.2M in annual omnichannel revenue.
